Ballard homes

Ballard is a young professionals neighborhood. It borders the Lake Washington Ship Canal to the South. 85th St to the North, Greenwood Ave to the East and Puget Sound to the West.

It's close proximty to downtown Seattle and the many shops, restraunts, bars, and parks make it a very attractive place for buyers. Most buyers I see are younger and either have small kids or are thinking about having kids. The downtown area of Ballard is a hangout for the cool people and the super hipsters. Ballard is a very safe neighborhood and most of the streets in Ballard have sidewalks which make it a very walkable community as well.

Home prices in Ballard vary. Usually the homes are bit less than Queen Anne, Fremont, and other neighborhoods to the south but far more than the homes that are north of 85Th in Greenwood. You can buy a fixer or bare bones start home in Ballard starting at around $325,000. If you want a turnkey home with at least 1500 Sq feet you would be paying closet to $450,000. Most homes are older craftsmen homes so when purhasing its a good idea to check to make sure there in knob and tube wiring, galvanized plumbing, and you may want to get the sewer scoped. All in all Ballard is one of the best neighborhoods in Seattle.
